B-Team Girls Basketball is off to a strong start, going 2-2 in their first four games! After opening with a tough loss on the road to Orangeburg Prep, the Lady Highlanders responded with two great home wins over region foes Hammond and Ben Lippen! The B-Team Boys have collected the same record, with wins over OP and Wilson Hall!
Both teams will return to action after the break against the PAC Panthers.
The JV Girls continue to improve while boasting a roster made up of mainly middle school athletes, and having to overcome several injuries. The JV Boys picked up their first win of the season this week as they rallied for a home victory against Orangeburg Prep. The teams will return to the court again after the break, hosting PAC on January 4th.
The Varsity Girls have had an incredibly difficult schedule thus far, having to play road games against the likes of Pelion HS, Richland Northeast HS, and Porter-Gaud. While they continue to look for their first win, the team shows great signs of promise. They will host the Home Pest Control Tournament, starting next Friday evening in the Athletic Center.
The Varsity Boys have seen a similarly difficult schedule, but have collected wins over Pelion, Wilson Hall, and a season sweep of Orangeburg Prep! In their big road matchup with defending state champion Porter-Gaud, the Highlanders held a halftime lead over the Cyclones before running out of gas late. In the contest, senior West Point signee Josh Caldwell became just the 7th Highlander boys player to collect 1,000 points in his career! They will host the Home Pest Control Classic, beginning Next Friday. |
