With the inclement weather from Tropical Storm Hermine, the Varsity Football game against Christ School was cancelled, and will not be made up. The Highlanders (1-1) will travel to Pinewood Prep on Friday, while the JV & Middle School teams will open their season at home on Thursday against Ben Lippen!
The Boys Cross Country team participated in the Palmetto Festival at Ben Lippen on Saturday, placing 5th amongst the 13 teams participating! Joseph French finished 11th, while Nick Basile claimed a personal best time in his 16th place finish! The Girls Cross Country team will participate in the Coaches Classic at 8AM this Saturday!
The Boys & Girls Swim Teams will participate this Saturday at Maxcy Gregg Park in the Battle of the Midlands Invitational, where the Lady Highlanders will look to claim their 3rd title of the 2016 season. Competition begins as noon!
The Girls Golf team collected wins in a tri-match last week over Hammond and Wilson Hall! The Highlanders were led by Madison Branum (37) and Olivia Antonetti (42), who claimed the two lowest scores of the day! Branum also participated in the Palmetto Golf Preview on Tuesday, featuring the top teams and players in the state, finishing at +1 for the 18-hole event, and earning a top-10 finish! The team will be back in action on Thursday, as they host Lugoff-Elgin HS and Cambridge Academy!
The Highlander MS Volleyball team will open its season on Wednesday at home as they host Wilson Hall, with first serve scheduled for 4:15PM. The Varsity (1-2) will host matches today (Mead Hall) and tomorrow (Wilson Hall), before traveling for a road region match on Thursday at Augusta Christian.
JV Tennis fell last week to Ashley Hall, 6-3, but saw some great performances! Claiborne Bunch and Sophie Kaelin collected singles and doubles wins for the Highlanders. The team will host AC Flora on Thursday at the Cayce Tennis Center. The Varsity Tennis team lost at AC Flora last week, but will look to rebound this week as they travel to Augusta Christian on Thursday in a key region match!
